EMBA22’s First Class: Managers as Agents of Change

On 2 October 2026, following the opening ceremony, EMBA22 began its first session in Change Management with Mr. Sameh Hanna, Director of Business & Corporate Development, School of Management (SOM), Asian Institute of Technology.

Rapid technological advances and evolving consumer expectations are pressing organisations, whether private, public, national or international, to pursue deep and lasting change. Yet the speed and agility required to redesign structures, cultures and work practices often fall short of delivering real change at the organisational, team and personal levels.

The Change Management course addresses a core question: how can change move beyond planning and truly take hold?

Session highlights:

  • The context of change: Technology, customer expectations, and competitive pressure as key drivers.
  • Three levels of change: Real change must occur at organisational, team, and personal levels simultaneously.
  • Sustainable redesign: Speed and agility in reshaping structures, cultures, and work practices.
  • The manager’s role: Building the capability to act as an effective agent for change, wherever one stands in their career.

Change does not begin with a strategy on paper, but with those who dare to lead it. This first session marks the start of preparing every EMBA22 manager for that role.
