During 21st – 25th Feb 2019, the training cum study tour program on “Rural Road Management in Coastal Region“ was conducted in Hanoi, Vietnam by the Asian Institute of Technology in Vietnam for 10 high level officials from Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), Local Government Division, the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
The training was designed for participants to exchange ideas, acquire knowledge and skills on management of construction areas, especially the saline zone as well as construction techniques and materials considered to used that special environment. There was 01 day-lecture conducted with participation of expert to share and discuss about the durability of concrete and reinforced concrete in basic concept and standard requirements on corrosion protection of concrete and reinforced concrete in marine environment with the Vietnam experience.
Besides the lectures, the program delivered some field visits that brought participants a view on research, implementation, supervision of construction involving the government and community in both public and private sector shared by Vietnam Institute for Building Science and Technology (IBST) and the typical case Vincom project in Cam Pha, Quang Ninh province as in saline area. Upon the training’s conclusion, the participants obtained a remarkable overview of construction management and execution with saline region in focus in Vietnam, and then could make a considerable application into similar field in Bangladesh.
The training cum study visit program was well conducted with satisfactory program organization and management that gained participants’ widely appreciation in maximum benefit from program. Overall, the objectives and expectation of the program were met; the participants had a good opportunity of sharing and learning experience, new techniques and ideas in construction management in Vietnam.
