In the effort to assist the company towards the commitment to continued improvement of their environmental performance, the Asian Institute of Technology in Vietnam in cooperation with Heineken Vietnam – Tien Giang has successfully organized a 3-day training course on “Operation of Wastewater Treatment Plant” from 02 to 04 October 2017. The overall evaluation score representing the participants’ satisfaction was 9.1 (the scale of 10).
Participants of the course are technicians, engineers, supervisors, those being in charged of management and operation of the wastewater treatment systems of different localities, including Heineken Vietnam – Tien Giang, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Quang Nam, Da Nang and Hoc Mon.
The course provided the participants with basic understanding and knowledge on operation of industrial wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). In particularly, the course guided participants (i) on how to identify potential problems which affect to the wastewater treatment processes, sludge treatment processes; and (ii) to solve identified technical problems through providing them with basic experiments in operation of WWTP and repairing methods.
The participants were so enthusiastic in sharing their own related experiences. They also found much interested to get to distinguish the nutrient ratio of the anaerobic process with that of the aerobic process; and to better understand about the range of microorganism-tolerated temperature in the wastewater treatment process. Removal of nitrogen from the discharge was the contents of participants’ concerns the most. Many questions related to theory as well as practical were raised by many different plants at the course.
