Post Covid-19 ESIA training by Vietnam Learning Center on Environmental and Social Sustainability (LC)

Vietnam Learning Center on Environmental and Social Sustainability (LC) hosted by the AIT in Vietnam (AITVN) has successfully organized a training course on Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) from June 30 to July 2 in Ho Chi Minh City. The course was attended by eleven participants from different companies which are mainly operating in the energy sector.  

The main objective of the training course which is to help participants to enhance their ESIA competence and to improve their performance at work which contributes to the effectiveness and sustainability of the development project eventually has achieved. The course introduced key principles and procedure of the Environmental and social impact assessment, different tools and techniques to conduct a good quality ESIA report which meets the requirements of the World Bank’s, the Asian Development Bank’s and Vietnam’s safeguard policies and standards. Short presentations combined with group discussions and group presentations, case study analysis and some role play work very well, making participants more engaged and actively participated in all learning activities, and encouraging them to raise their ideas issues and together they discuss and find out solutions.

Generally, participants are highly satisfied and evaluated the course for its useful and practical curriculum and the active learning approach.
