In the middle of June 2018 (14th – 18th), the Asian Institute of Technology in Vietnam successfully organized the training cum study tour program on “Mixed Fruit Cultivation at Remote Area of Chittagon Hill Tracts’Project” for 09 officers from Chittagon Hill Tracts Development Board, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
The training’s purpose is to provide participants the process of mixed fruit cultivation in high lands – especially lychee, mango and malta, the best practices in coffee production, update the latest technological interventions, the inspection and governance procedures of the agro based cultivation and production; especially the knowledge on soil management for the growth and development of agriculture, maintenance nutritional value of fruit from cultivation as well as the government rules and policies to promote agriculture.
In order to help participants have direct connection with the Vietnam context, several field visits were carried out together with the sharing experiences with representatives at the related agencies and institutions such as: The Northern Mountainous Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute (Vietnam) – Visit to a Model of Mixed Fruit Cultivation in Phu Tho Province; the meeting with the vice Minister (Secretary) – Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs and Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
All visits and the updated knowledge through the training program brought a great overview of planning development on mixed fruit cultivation in Vietnam and help the participants could develop specialized knowledge and practical application as well as direct comparative snapshot between Vietnam and Bangladesh.
After 5 successful days training, the quality of training delivered by AIT-VN are highly evaluated in both services and professional arrangement owing to its impression and pertinence to the reality of ethnic minority populace in Bangladesh.
