Master of Science (Professional) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Applications (PMDS)

Data science (DS) is concerned with the extraction of useful knowledge from data sets. It is closely related to the fields of computer science, mathematics, and statistics. It is a relatively new term for a broad set of skills spanning the more established fields of machine learning, data mining, databases, and visualization, along with their applications in various fields. In 2012, Harvard Business Review called the data science “The Sexiest Job of the 21st Century.”

The Master of Science (Professional) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Applications (PMDS) was designed in partnership with the Erasmus+ DS&AI consortium, a group of 15 European and Asian organizations with the mission of bringing European-standard advanced education to Asia. At AIT, we will prepare you to understand and execute projects using state of the art technology at both levels. The program is designed for working professionals with a background in ICT who would like to extend their skillset to encompass data science. The program is initially designed for the Vietnamese professional market, but we will explore opportunities in countries such as Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, China, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Specifically, the program will help students:

PMDS is of 30 credits which includes 24 course credits and 6 project credits. The program comprises of three semesters and closes with the final project/graduation.

• Computer Programming for Data Science
• Data Modeling and Data Management
• Fundamentals of Machine Learning
• Data Analytics for Business Intelligence

Selected Topics / Elective Courses on Technology Ethics and Governance (12 credits):

• Data Privacy, Security, and Governance
• Selected Topic: AI Regulation and Governance
• Selected Topic: Techplomacy, Ethics, And Conflicts in Artificial Intelligence
• Selected Topic: Strategic Cybersecurity Governance

Master’s Project (6 credits)

1. Tuition fee (all-inclusive): 342,901,000 VND (13,000 USD)
2. Cost for two study trips to AIT, Thailand (optional): 52,754,000 VND (2,000 USD)
   (Excluding meals and personal living expenses)

Total tuition fee: 395,655,000 VND (15,000 USD), payable in three installments.

If a participant is unable to complete the program in time, an extension fee of 4,396,167 VND (167 USD) will be charged for each additional semester.

No additional tuition fees are required.

This exchange rate (1 USD = 26,377 VND) is only for reference.

Candidates who meet the following criteria can apply for the program of PMDS:

• Hold a bachelor's degree (normally from a 4-year program) or equivalent, appropriate major, final score above 2.75 GPA
• Proficient in English with IELTS score of 5.0 or higher
• Having at least 3-year working experience
