Training on “Minor Irrigation” for the delegation of Barisal Division Minor Irrigation Development Project (BDMIDP)

In the middle of July 2018 (17th – 25th), the Asian Institute of Technology in Vietnam successfully organized the training cum study tour program on “Minor Irrigation” for 07 officers from Chittagon Hill Tracts Development Board, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

The training’s purpose is to provide participants the know-hows of new techniques in minor irrigation and agricultural development in Vietnam. It was designed on the platform of lectures and field visits to related agencies in Vietnam with a view to sharing experiences and exchanging the idea on minor irrigation application of Vietnam context. All activities turned around the following topics: Vietnam agriculture development, minor irrigation system, agricultural products and market access, etc. Together with the lectures, the field visits that was carried out at the model of minor irrigation system in Luc Ngan, Bac Giang province and the model of fruit value chain in Hung Yen province, etc. gave participants a closer look on how minor irrigation works in Vietnam agriculture.

All visits and the updated knowledge through the training program helped participants in linking what they experienced in Vietnam to what they do in Bangladesh, then considering the practical applicability later on in their home country.

After 9 successful days training, the quality of training delivered by AIT-VN are highly evaluated in both services and professional arrangement owing to its impression and possibility of agriculture development in Bangladesh.
